What’s Your Leadership Potential?

Leadership Potential

There are four competencies required of most leaders. A leader who embodies these are more likely to increase work satisfaction, create trust, and foster organizational commitment and loyalty. These competencies are also strongly associated with productivity, decreased employee turnover and increased efficiency.

Authenticity

An authentic leader serves as a role model for moral and fair behavior. A transparent approach commands esteem and confidence from employees.

Coaching

A leader who coaches effectively is seen as a mentor who supports employee growth. Employees are nurtured towards achieving their highest level of performance

Insight

A leader provides insight by sharing a purpose and hopeful vision for colleagues to follow. Employees are compelled and inspired to exceed goals.

Innovation

An innovative leader focuses on taking risks, spurring colleagues’ ingenuity and autonomous thought. Knowledge is valued and challenges are viewed as learning opportunities.

Based on extensive research and theory*, there are also six subcategories within each of the above four that can be measured and developed through assessment, coaching and training.

High scores on the six subcategories help ensure optimal functioning in the main four competencies of leadership. Conversely, lower scores allow you to quickly see an area of challenge for you (or your team members) in yours and their current leadership roles.

Focusing development on these areas will yield the greatest return in you and your team’s growth as leaders.
